Scrapbook 60-61

Hello Fred,

Thank you for sending this to me.

Of course, I cannot think of your family without the incredible gift and fondness of being, along with yours, one of the BSO families in those very rich days. That was and remains an immense gift and privilege. Within that wonderful realm I always felt such a fondness for both your parents as they were, are, such loving, generous and genuine people.

I was delighted that our singing careers, your Mother’s and mine, overlapped briefly for several years with the Cantata Singers.

When I think of your Mother, what stands out to me was how kind, generous and cheerful she alway was. She always had a smile and had a special way of sharing it with everyone. She has a sense of warmth that is wonderful and much appreciated.

I hope you and yours are all well in this challenging time.

It’s almost impossible to describe the incredible energy, enthusiasm and curiosity that makes you so very special at any age, never mind on your entry into your tenth decade!!! You brighten the room just by being there. You challenge us all to pay attention and to be better. Your thoughtfulness and empathy are something we all strive for.

Here’s to you, wonderful you, and a 90th celebration that shouts it from the rooftops!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BETSY!

Love,

Mary DeGarmo
