Dear Betsy,
Happy 90th birthday! I hear you are running circles around everyone at the Newbury Court retirement community. I’m not surprised.
My first memory of you is while visiting Tanglewood. I was very young. All I remember was how peaceful the house was. And how hard the futon I slept on was (and what a surprisingly good night’s sleep I had) :-).
My second memory is of your annual letters, regaling us with your children’s amazing achievements. Mom (who would be 86 were she still alive) was terrible at keeping in touch, but was grateful that you were the opposite. Sometimes we read your letters together, and she would tell me who some of the names you mentioned were.
My third memory is of listening to her Fred Moyer Jazz Trio CD. She was so proud of him.
My fourth memory is of you reaching out in 2006 to send Laura and me some old photos. At that point, I had started doing research into the family genealogy, and was so happy to find in you a brilliant family record keeper.
My fifth and sixth memories are of visiting your house in Wayland in 2006 and 2008. You came to pick me up in Weston when I was staying with my college friend, and brought me back to your house. I remember all the pictures, and feeling connected through your stories to all these second cousins (once removed and not) I had never met.
My seventh memory is of perusing Paul Green’s Plant Book and loving the combination of your photos and his writings. I was living outside of Rome with my Italian partner at the time, and he was also very impressed.
Thanks for continuing to send your annual letters, for your strength, energy, and kindness. I’m sorry I’ve lost touch in the past few years, but know you are in my heart.
Love Jenny Brav
Betsy,
May you have a wonderful day on this special birthday! Enjoy feeling special!
I’m so glad to see you are still busy with your many music endeavors. The years carpooling with you to Heritage Chorale rehearsals were great fun.
My best to you and Bill.
Fondly, Linda Foley ❤️ ? ?
Dear Betsy,
I know this is a special birthday for you, but for me, you are ageless! I treasure times together on Vinalhaven with you and Bill, and have the picture of a black-eyed Susan, which you took at our house, in my Rockland home. You were always so supportive of Fox Islands Concerts, which was so appreciated. But I also always admired your zest for life and talent and multifaceted interests.
I wish you a very Happy Birthday and many wonderful years to come.
Love,
Rona
