Scrapbook 30-31

Dear Aunt Bets,

HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY! I wish I could be there to hug your neck but we are stuck in Africa so I am sending this to you in lieu of my presence. You are an amazing, intelligent, kind, sweet, energetic , focused woman. I have always admired your tenacity and positive outlook. Every memory I have of you is filled with joy and fun, from visiting you in your “exotic” Japanese style summer house in Mass. with the beautiful harpsichord in it, or going to an outdoor POPs concert, or just talking together. You are still so full of life and joy and vigor and I pray that this coming year will only bring you more joy and contentment.

Happy Birthday!

Love,

Scott, Jenny and Madeline

Dear Betsy,

Dear Milly Mom,

When I started dating Paul, he told me all about his wonderful childhood between Wayland, Tanglewood and Vinalhaven.  I told him “you had the most idyllic childhood of anyone I know!”  I said I can’t wait to meet your wonderful parents.  Then I met you.  I’ll never forget it.  It was at Annie’s house – Nick’s 3rd bday party.  I met you and Dad, and I immediately understood how  Paul turned out to be such a great person.  I don’t know if you remember, but I whispered in your ear “you have the most amazing son”.  I knew after 3 weeks with Paul, then meeting you and Dad, that I wanted to be a Moyer!

Then you welcomed Jean and Pops – without question – into your family.  They were skeptical at first because we’ve never known such an open, loving family.  It didn’t take long for them to feel welcomed and loved by the Moyer clan.

Then our wedding!  My very first request to Paul was that I wanted you and Dad to walk me down the aisle.  (I think he cried).  I was so proud to have you both on either side of me that day.

You have been the BEST parents any daughter-in-law could ever hope for.  I LOVE our family holidays, our trips to Vinalhaven and Tanglewood, our canning sessions, and fried chicken nights at Newburyport Court!

Happy, happy, happy Birthday Mom.  I love you.

Love,

Dilly Daire
