Betsy Moyer
I first met Betsy when I moved to Newbury Court in 2012 and was immediately struck by her openness and friendliness, her positive attitude, and her willingness to help anyone whenever and wherever she could.
She was well known around Newbury Court. Quite a musician and piano player, she played the accompaniment for all the singers in our annual talent shows, she formed a committee who would tape all the worthwhile programs (many) in Morrison Theater, she started a Madrigal Choral group among other things, and I have the pleasure of being in the Concord Chorus and it’s carpool with her.
Another love of Betsy’s is photography. I LOVE the stationary she makes out of her wildflower photos. I gave both my daughter-in-law and my son-in-law an assorted box of that stationary and they loved it. It’s always a treat for me to get a letter from one or the other of them on Betsy’s letter paper.
I live on the 5th floor and it is always a pleasure for me to walk down the part of the floor that has a set of 19 of Betsy’s wildflower photos hanging in a row on both sides of the hall. What a treat for the eyes.
She got her love of flowers from her Dad, Paul Green and they wrote a book together – Paul Green’s Plant Book – an Alphabet of Flowers and Folklore. A very interesting book indeed, very lovingly written.
Betsy also co-founded the Sudbury Valley Nature Photographers in 1995 which meets here in Newbury Court and has some 129 or so members. As you can tell Betsy loves building communities.
Last but very much not least, Betsy has an adoring family and she adores them – her husband Bill, and her four children. As this note is for Betsy’s 90th Birthday, I will leave words of the family for another time.
To sum up, Betsy is one very special lady, and a treasured friend who I still can’t believe, with her boundless energy and talents, is going to be 90! More power to her and Congratulations and Happy Birthday, Betsy.
Cheers, blessings, and love,
Libby
