Betsy and I became friends through Sudbury Valley Nature Photographers but our friendship has grown over the last 10 years. I love her cheerfulness. Anytime I call her and she is always ready to hear what I’m doing and is such a good listener. She finally gets around to telling me what’s happening in her life.
Her avid interest in anything is so refreshing . I love the way she “rethinks new ways of doing things”. She is open to new ideas and takes action. What a young talented woman she is. She organizes, gets people together, plays the piano, sings, makes wonderful dinners, is a great & loving caregiver as well as a really good photographer, sees flowers in macro as well as life in big scale. To think she is having such a significant birthday! She is amazing.
I like this photo when I organized for Betsy, Sue and I to go up to Plum Island to photograph. Here is Betsy..just thinking of her “next shot”..just
like her life..’thinking what is next” to explore.
Much love to you Betsy and Happy Birthday,
your dear friend, Carol Walsh
Betsy,
It is wonderful to know about your continued vibrancy – organizing for your community so many stimulating activities for the mind and the senses. That is just how I remember you from early days in Wayland. Of course it was your piano and harpsichord activities that had the impact on me back then – setting a standard of excellence and community leadership. I continue to aspire to that standard in my own work in medicine, medical research, and health advocacy. Years later I was delighted to learn that you also have a passion for photography. I am soothed each night by a triptych of 3 of your fine nature photographs in my bedroom. Have a wonderful 90th birthday! I hope you enjoy many more years of culture and community.
Warmly,
Cindy Alpert Grande, MD
